Many fun dance contests are offered at MADjam. There are divisions for all skill and experience levels from first time rookies to seasoned professional competitors. Over $20,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded. Winners receive cash prizes, gift certificates, peer admiration and customized ribbons or plaques. All contests will be judged by a well-respected panel of judges. Scoring is done electronically using the relative placement system. Below is a simple summary of the contests. Everyone dances in prelims. “Suprise Jam Finals” are followed by an all-contestant all-skate. First place couple wins t-shirts.
Random drawing from among all dancers in the Hello MADjam Strictly for a FREE PASS to the Dance Jam Productions event of your choice: Swing Fling 2020, DCSX 2020, or MADjam 2021. Good luck!
STRICTLY SWING – Enter with your partner but we pick the music. No costumes or choreography allowed.
Levels: Newcomer/Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, AllStar, Champion
Age Divisions: Sophisticated (35+), Masters (50+)
Enter at the level you dance for Jack & Jill. If you and your partner are different levels, enter at the higher level. You can enter a second level of Strictly Swing by ‘dancing up.’ Role switching is allowed but not expected of you. Full rules.

JACK & JILL – The ultimate social dance contest with cash prizes! Enter without a partner, couples are randomly paired, we pick the music. There will be multiple rounds of competition for each division.
World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) Levels: Newcomer, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Allstar, Champion. You may only enter one level.
Age Divisions (50+): Masters-Novice, Masters-Open (WSDC)
Switch It Up (Lead, Follow and Switch in this contest!)
Prize pool depends on number of entries. Over $10,000 in cash was awarded to MADjam’s Jack & Jill winners last year!
PROAM JACK & JILL – Enter individually. Dance with three randomly drawn Allstar/Champion partners. Levels: Newcomer/Novice, Intermediate
PROAM STRICTLY SWING – Dance two songs with your teacher or a favorite Allstar/Champion partner. Levels: Newcomer/Novice, Intermediate

CHOREOGRAPHY – Bring your partner, your music, your costumes and routine. Everyone receives a FREE professionally produced video of their performance!
NOTE! Entries must be received by 11pm Thursday March 5th so dance order can be randomized.
Rising Star (RST) This is the entry level choreography contest. Lifts are allowed but not required.
Classic (NASDE) Traditional swing with limited partner supported moves.
Showcase (NASDE) Swing with required lifts, drops, tricks and partner supported moves.
NEW this year! -> Showtime Exhibition moments celebrate pro-am spotlight routines and other spectacular numbers shared for the joy of dancing. Dancers enjoy 3 minutes of non-competitive fame & applause with an enthusaistic live audience and 1000s more watching online. Times vary, selected by the performers after registering.
